Kremlin: Russia lists foreign assets for possible seizure

MOSCOW, Dec 29 (PRIME) -- Russia has a list of assets that can be withdrawn from foreigners in response to their actions, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Friday.

"There is (a list of assets for withdrawal). Seeing the unpredictability of our counteragents, let's say, full unpredictability, and understanding their tendency to violate international legislation and other laws, including their national, understanding their tendency to self-destruction, I mean destruction of the modern economic system, the breach of trust in the main postulates of the global economic system, I mean, the key reserve currency, the principle of inviolability of private property … we have, of course, analyzed a possible response so that it best suits our interests," Peskov said.

Peskov said that possible confiscation of Russian assets abroad is illegal, can bring about serious consequences and will undermine global economy.

The official said commenting on a conflict around beer producer Carlsberg and its former Russian asset Baltika that the Russian authorities will do everything possible to protect national producers.

Business daily Vedomosti reported earlier that Baltika had asked head of the Presidential Administration Anton Vaino to protect trademarks of the company abroad amid a fight for the brands with Carlsberg. The Russian firm asked to order the trademark authority to suggest the CIS states, and Turkmenistan and Mongolia suspend registration of the license agreements for the key brands of the company.
